DeStress with Mental Wellness - It's time for self-care.

We are living in stressful times. It's causing a lot of anxiety, increased depression and eother health issues. It's not just here in the US, it's global.  The Global Wellness Institute, an offspring of the World Health Organization has been monitoring it and taken action.

In addition to the existing six dimensions of wellness, they have added a seventh.  Mental Wellness. Intellectual wellness focuses on happiness with your career, ability to grow and learn. Mental Wellness, covers a whole lot more.

It's fitting timing.

The longer this pandemic drags on, the more it affects our mindset. The good news, there are lots of little things we can do to help it. Our minds will do what we focus them on. Focus on negative and the mind will find a way to make it happen. Focus on the positive and the mind will make that happen.

In the past two weeks, I have been seeing numerous posts and articles on the practice of gratitude. In this practice, you specifically look for things that you are thankful for.

One recommended exercise is to keep a gratitude journal for a week. Then you take your gratitude for the day and help others feel more positive by posting it on social media. Share it with family, friends and clients. It's really surprising the impact you can have with a few simple words.

Want to know more about Global Wellness Institute?  Their website is full of information - a lot of it free. You can also follow them on Facebook or LinkedIn.

I discovered a wonderful piece of technology, an app, that has been very helpful to me.  It's from BrainTap Technologies.  They discovered that when you listen to guided meditaiton that has voices, music, tones and something slightly different going into each ear, it activates the subconscious brain.

In one 15-20 minute session a day, you can feel better, relaxed, calm, less stressed, happier. They have literally hundreds of different sessions available that you can choose from so you can focus on anything you might want to deal with. Want to understand it more - it's all explained on their website, including a free app to try it.
